Windsurfing Introductory Course

Learn windsurfing at Albufeira Lagoon in Sesimbra, in an environment particularly suited to learning and progression. Our lessons are designed for beginners as well as experienced riders looking to improve their technique and build confidence on the water.

Choose between a private lesson with individual instruction or a small-group lesson. Your instructor adapts the equipment, exercises and pace of the session to the participants’ level and the conditions on the day.

Windsurfing

What Will You Learn?

Lessons start with the fundamentals and progress according to each participant’s level and goals. Throughout the sessions, you will learn how to understand the equipment, read the wind and apply the basic principles of windsurfing, always with guidance from your instructor.

Equipment familiarization: board, sail, mast, boom and safety equipment.
Water safety: basic rules, procedures and responsible behaviour on the water.
Understanding the wind: identify wind direction and choose equipment suited to the conditions.
Balance and control: learn body position and how to control the sail.
Getting started: uphaul, balance and sail with control.
Sailing: learn different points of sail and basic changes of direction.
Progression: build confidence and independence according to your level.

Meira Pro Center was born at Albufeira Lagoon from a passion for wind and watersports. Founder Rui Meira has over 40 years of experience in watersports and was a pioneer in introducing windsurfing to Portugal, becoming a multiple-time Portuguese Windsurf National Champion. That experience is part of the way we teach and support every student.

My friend and I hadn’t kayaked in awhile and it took us awhile to get the hang of it, but he was so helpful in coaching us through the trip. He also gave great recommendations for things to do and eat in Lisbon! The beach was absolutely beautiful and we could not have had a better experience! An absolute must-do when visiting Lisbon!

I was driven to the location by Roggi (my spelling may be wrong) he got us there safely also offering fun facts along the way which was a pleasant experience for so early in the morning. Afonso was our kayak guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable, very grateful we got him as a guide as he gave us the best service, fun facts, great conversation, and wonderful experiences while also making sure it was documented for us to look back on. Gabriel took us back to drop off zone, he got us there safely and very appreciative of that and everyone who made my Portugal experience worthwhile!!!

The kayaking with Luís was more than looking into sea caves and looking at marine life, but about the history and way of life of the locals.
